A Bandidos outlaw bikie who allegedly threatened to bite off the noses of police responding to a wild fight outside a nightclub was arrested by heavily armed cops during a series of raids this morning.
The 29-year-old “patched” member of the gang was taken into custody by the elite Special Operations Group at a service station in Ballan West about 6.20am, Wednesday.
Raids were also conducted at the man’s property in Weir Views, in the city of Melton, while another warrant was executed at the Bandidos’ clubhouse in Fitzroy.
Those raids were conducted by the anti-bikie Echo taskforce with the aid of the VIPER taskforce.
The Bandido was charged with assaulting police, reckless conduct endangering a person, threats to inflict serious injury, hindering police, possessing a prohibited weapon, discharging a missile and three counts of cannabis possession.
The charges follow an incident about 2.30am on Sunday, October 2 outside a Fitzroy nightclub.
Police will allege an associate of the Weir Views man attempted to stab staff members at the bar on Brunswick Street.
Police who descended on the scene allege that as they arrested the man they alleged was at the centre of the violence, the 29-year-old Bandido became aggressive toward police and attempted to provoke them into a fight and threatened to bite their noses off.
Officers at the scene directed the Weir Views man to move on, and as he walked away, it’s alleged he threw objects, including glass bottles, at police members.
A 28-year-old Melton South man, also a “patched” Bandidos member, who was present at the service station this morning was allegedly found to be in possession of the illicit drug methylamphetamine.
He was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on February 29, 2023.
Detective acting Insp. Ash Ryan of the Echo taskforce said the such events would not be accepted by police,
“This shocking behaviour will not be tolerated, and this investigation shows we will stop at nothing to put those responsible for putting others at risk before a court,” Insp. Ryan said.
“The community can rest assured that groups such as this who break the law and go against community expectation will be continually held to account by Victoria Police.”
The arrests follow a succession of police operations centred on the Bandidos in recent times.
