16-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy dies after Tarneit crash

A teenage boy is dead and one other teen remains in hospital after the stolen car they were travelling in smashed into another car and hit a power pole.

A teenage boy has died and another has been seriously injured after crashing a stolen car in Melbourne’s west.

Three teenage boys were travelling in a stolen Haval Jolion in Tarneit about 1.25am on Sunday May 18.

They collided with a Toyota Camry at the intersection of Dohertys and Werribee-Melton roads before losing control of their vehicle and swerving into a nearby pole.

All three boys were taken to hospital with two of them sustaining life-threatening injuries.

One of the boys, a 16-year-old from Hoppers Crossing succumbed to his injuries, passing away on Monday.

Another 16-year-old from Werribee remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The third boy, also from Werribee, has been discharged from hospital.

The occupants of the Toyota Camry did not sustain any serious injuries in the collision.

Police confirmed the stolen Haval Jolion was taken from the car park at Riverdale Village Shopping Centre on May 10.
