Gary Jubelin: I Catch Killers

Gary Jubelin is back in the interview room taking listeners inside the world of crime

I Catch Killers: Read | Watch | Listen |

After 25 years working in homicide, I'm back now sitting across the interview room table with people from right across the world of crime and punishment, and asking them to share their stories.

In the I Catch Killers podcast, I speak to cops, criminals, victims, lawyers and a huge range of others from both sides of the line between good and evil.

They talk about the big things with an open mind: life and death, hope and suffering, joy, tragedy, and redemption.

A NOTE FROM GARY

The ‘I Catch Killers’ Podcast has been running now for three years and I am so grateful for the support we've had from our listeners.

When my policing career was taken away in dramatic and controversial circumstances, I still had a passion to make a difference in the world of crime but didn’t know how.

Then the opportunity of hosting the podcast presented itself and allowed me to help people understand crime, focus on areas that need attention, and entertain.

By talking to a whole range of incredible guests who have been so open and brave in sharing their stories and perspectives it has shown the world of crime is not one-dimensional.

I should also thank you, the listeners, for your patience because making the transition from cop to podcast host has been a bit of an evolution requiring some harsh self-critiquing and upskilling in a few areas.

I stubbornly stuck to my beliefs on where I wanted to take the podcast and resisted the temptation of seeking a ‘gotcha’ moment by instead allowing guests to voice their opinions without judgment.  It was also important to allow people some joy in the darkness and laugh at situations to help them cope.

It is humbling in a strange way that notorious criminals are now trusting me to allow them to tell their story, where just a matter of years ago we were sworn enemies.  It is also comforting to know that the law enforcement types still trust me and don’t think I have sold out talking to crooks.  Victims also see me as a person who can help them articulate their issues and highlight any injustices.

Open dialogue and communication with others who have different values is a positive thing.  It has opened my eyes to areas, I didn’t appreciate when I was a cop.  I hope you have come on this journey with me.

We are making small but not insignificant changes to people’s views on crime and how to prevent and fight it. Our guests have a platform to discuss prison reform, improved practices in law enforcement, crime prevention, investigative strategies, Indigenous issues, a whole range of social issues - and to entertain.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy hosting the podcast.

We have got some great future guests lined up who will no doubt shock, surprise, and entertain you.  Probably even make you laugh and cry. That’s the world I knew as a cop.
