Fans of Gary Jubelin’s I Catch Killers book and podcast now have more reason to celebrate with extra dates being added to his upcoming live stage shows.
Jubelin had been set to take to the stage in October with his good friend, actor Rob Carlton, only for the tour to be postponed due to the pandemic. Now with the country set to emerge from lockdown I Catch Killers will now tour nationally in February and March, 2022.
Four shows have been added to the schedule – a second performance at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney plus dates in Newcastle, Wollongong and Coffs Harbour.
From helping to solve the gangland killing of Terry Falconer to bringing national attention to the Bowraville serial killings and the shameful investigation that followed, Jubelin wants people to understand crime from all its perspectives.
“This is a live show; there is no safety net here, it will be raw and brutally honest just like the world I inhabited,” Jubelin says.
“I will be put on the spot by Rob Carlton who has known me for 20 years, there will be no place to hide. You will find out what being a real homicide cop is all about, the price that is paid and how it changes you. Nothing is off limits.”
Jubelin left the police force in 2019 after being convicted of illegally recording four conversations with a former suspect in the hunt for missing toddler William Tyrrell. He is now working on his second book, “Badness”, and is a regular contributor to News Corp mastheads while his I Catch Killers podcast is one of Australia’s most popular.
Carlton, who won a Logie for his portrayal of Kerry Packer in the Paper Giants miniseries, says he can’t wait to get on the stage with Jubelin.
“He reckons the interview room is his happy place, well he is in my world now, the theatre, so I’m going to take him out of his comfort zone pushing and probing him live on stage. I reckon I might even be able to get him to smile.”
