MURDERED millionaire Michael Griffey was writing a new will before he was killed as he was planning to divorce his wife, his former lover claims.

Gillian Gould has given her first interview about her five-year relationship with the transport business owner before he was brutally bashed in the head and left to rot on his garage floor for days in late 2005.

“There was definitely another will, he discussed it with me,” Ms Gould told the Sunday Herald Sun.

“They were separating, it might have been different if they had been more amicable but she (Diane) was trying to discredit him, he didn’t want anything more to do with her.”

Ms Gould said that Mr Griffey had asked her if she wanted to be included in his new will, which was never found.

“I said it’s your children you have got to look after, I don’t want to get anything, I just want you to be healthy, because he had health problems,” she said.

The Sunday Herald Sun has found a copy of Mr Griffey’s original 1986 will, which leaves his entire estate to Diane Griffey.

He owned properties in Pakenham and Phillip Island and had two life insurance policies worth $1.54 million.

Mr Griffey’s murder stunned Melbourne when his body was discovered in his Pakenham home.

His wife Diane was charged with the murder, but the case was dropped when his teenage daughter Cassandra, 16 at the time of his death, confessed to the crime shortly before her mother’s trial.

Cassandra was never charged because police did not believe her story.

His son Kenny, who denies he killed his father, was arrested but released without charge.

The new information comes as a Sunday Herald Sun investigation revealed last week claims that a metal garden tool that was in the garage went missing after he was killed.

And claims that Cassandra dumped a bag of clothes on the side of the road on the way to Alexandra in the days after the death.

Ms Gould, who worked at the Bendigo Bank branch where Mr Griffey had his accounts, had a long-term relationship, of which Diane was aware.

They discussed it after she was released from custody following her murder charges.

“She (Diane) knew we were together. She didn’t want him but she didn’t want anyone else to have him,” Ms Gould said.

“We had a very long conversation about the goings on and things that happened.”

Ms Gould said she missed a call from Mr Griffey on the day he was murdered.

“I tried to ring him back but obviously he was gone by then because it went straight to message bank,” she said.

“He told me he was going to Foster and he wouldn’t have any coverage so I was surprised when I got a call from him.”

Ms Gould filed a missing person’s report four days later, which led to the discovery of Mr Griffey’s body.

But physical evidence of the crime was lost because his body had decayed in extreme temperatures.

The murderer stole his wallet and mobile phone and $1000 from a safe on the Pakenham property, which only three people knew the combination.

Diane Griffey, who remarried after Mr Griffey’s death, has not responded to requests for comment.
