Finks motorcycle club boss Brent “BJ” Reker has been freed on bail over an alleged revenge bashing linked to nude photos.
Heavily tattooed Reker, 33, shook his head in disbelief when granted his freedom at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight.
He had been on remand since his arrest in September.
The court heard he stormed a man’s Hampton Park home on September 9 with three other patched Finks, bashed him with a baseball bat and threatened to kill his partner and children if they called police.
The men had allegedly been enlisted by young mother Tara Egglestone, 29, to stand over the victim after she believed he was responsible for posting naked pictures of her online.
Reker also faces charges for a road rage incident in August.
The court heard bikie-busting Echo Taskforce detectives had been following Reker since he came to Victoria from Perth to reinstate the Finks in late 2017.
He is unemployed, not claiming benefits and has no legitimate income, the court heard. But bail was granted to him and his co-accused despite fierce opposition by the prosecution, who fear the trio poses a danger to the public and is at risk of reoffending.
Detective Senior Constable Cassandra Borg, from Echo Taskforce, told the court Reker had tried to interfere with witnesses before his arrest.
Magistrate Michael McNamara warned the men they would have to abide by strict bail conditions and if they stepped out of line, they would be back.
“You’re all adults. I don’t need to explain it,” he said.
All will have to report daily to their local police station, stick to a 9pm-6am curfew, not use drugs and use only one mobile phone, with the number declared to police.
They were ordered to surrender their passports, not contact witnesses and not associate with each other or any Finks members.
Fourth co-accused Corey Wanakore-Moeke, 33, from Frankston, had made a separate bid for bail on Thursday before a different magistrate, who will hand down her decision on January 24.
Sitting together in the dock, Reker and his bikie mates Nathan Martinow, from South Australia, and Pierce Williams, from Skye, knocked knuckles to celebrate their release.
The case will return to court in March.
