Tourists can now stay in the Athens home where Sydney underworld figure John Macris was shot dead last October.
His reality TV star wife Viktoria Karida is renting out a maisonette for 125 euros ($200) a night within the grounds of the plush hillside villa located in what the guidebooks call the Athens Riviera.
The weird experience begins before guests even get inside the house where Macris lived with Ms Karida and their two young children
When News Corp visited, a black Smart car — the exact same model Greek-Australian Macris was getting into when he was killed — was parked on the same spot outside the house where he was gunned down. No-one has been charged over his murder.

Macris’ eerie presence is also felt when visitors to the 55-square-metre duplex suite log on to the Wi-Fi — the password is “iannis1234”. “Iannis” is Greek for John and is the name the 46-year-old used in Greece.

The maisonette, available since January 6 on booking.com, is situated on the street side of the grounds of the four-storey house, above the swimming pool, and provides views over the main house where Ms Karida still lives with her kids.
Visitors hoping to get an insight into the life of a mobster’s widow can peer into the kitchen of the main house, which is one of the few rooms visible from what is advertised as a “Luxury & Stylish Shared Pool Maizonette” (sic).
News Corp was told that a security guard would be on duty all night at the front gate which lies between the two garages, in one of which a white Range Rover was parked. There was no sign of the Lamborghini Macris used to drive.
The apartment, which has no reviews on booking.com, was decorated in a subdued fashion — off-white walls and grey floor tiling — that gave it the feel of a modern but bland hotel suite.
The only touch of individuality was the print of the head of a Greek god that covered the entire wall of the staircase.
The apartment with one double bed was clearly not planned for hosting large dinner parties as it has just a small round table and two chairs in the kitchen-cum living room.
Besides, the houses rules on the booking site state clearly that “this property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties.”
