VISIT Myanmar’s little-known Mergui Islands on a new sailing adventure run by Australian travel company Active Travel.
Boasting more than 800 islands in the Andaman Sea, the remote archipelago receives only 1700 visitors a year.
Travelling aboard a luxury yacht, the Meta IV, a maximum of eight passengers will discover the Mergui Islands’ white, deserted beaches lined with palm trees, dense jungles filled with wildlife and colourful coral reefs on the six-day, round-trip cruise.
Leaving from the southern Myanmar port of Kawthaung, there are 23 departures planned between October and April 2015.
Priced from €1800 ($A2658) a person, twin share, it includes all on-board meals, welcome drinks, sunset drinks each day, shore excursions and sea kayaking.
Active Travel is also offering new, 12-day cruises aboard Meta IV on various sectors of its Spice Island cruise between Myanmar and Borneo from May to September this year.
