WHATSAPP suffered a global outage today, and users hit social media saying they “couldn’t cope” just days after Facebook bought it for $19b.

WhatsApp is starting to work again after the messaging app went down early today.

WhatsApp users hit Twitter to tell others of how they “couldn’t cope” without the app which is widely used among teenagers to message their friends.

They also criticised the deal made by Facebook to buy the popular mobile messaging service.

They have also posted memes mocking Mark Zuckerberg’s move, suggesting Facebook is trying to shut it down.

WhatsApp has over 450 million users each month with 70 per cent active on any given day. They have also had strong growth, with one million new registered users each day.

The deal is Facebook’s biggest acquisition and comes less than two years after Mark Zuckerberg’s firm raised $US16 billion in the richest tech sector public stock offering.

Facebook reportedly sought to acquire another hot messaging firm, Snapchat, for $US3 billion last year.
