What’s wrong with Donald Trump’s new cover photo?

DONALD Trump has officially taken over the @POTUS Twitter account. But before even posting a single tweet, he’s made a blunder.

Donald Trump Sworn In as President

WELL folks, we all knew this moment would come. Donald Trump has inherited the @POTUS Twitter account, in line with his inauguration into the White House.

But uh, it seems the incoming President’s social media team decided to pilfer an image from a different inauguration altogether for his cover photo.

Twitter user Adam Pash pointed out that the banner image on the POTUS account actually showed an image from Barack Obama’s first inauguration in 2009.

The description on the original Getty image reads: “The inauguration of President Barack Obama, January 20th 2009.” Awks.

And yes, it’s the same photo. Note the positions of the various flags, as well as the brown top hat in the lower part of the cover photo.

Sure, it’s slightly more subtle than, say, ripping off the Former First Lady’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech, but still.

Twitter users noted as he changed the image again — first to a generic American flag, and then to a grainy image of himself staring out a window, which is currently still up.

There were even suggestions Mr Trump didn’t even pay for the photo, which is cut off just above the watermark logo.

The difference in turnout numbers between the two inaugurations has been well-noted.

An estimated 900,000 supporters attended Mr Trump’s inauguration today, compared with about 1.8 million for Mr Obama’s in 2009.

You can sort of see why his administration may have felt the need to swipe an image from it.
