Royal Danish Air Force fighter pilot takes selfie while firing missile from F-16

THIS takes selfies to new heights. Just getting this F-16 pilot in the lens is cool enough — then he gets photo-bombed by his own missile.

Is this the ultimate selfie?

THIS takes selfies — and photo-bombing — to new heights.

Footage has ermeged of an F-16 pilot front and centre in the lens, looking pretty cool as he soars through the clouds.

Then he launches an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile, which flies straight past the cockpit spewing flames.

The video and still are reminiscent of a scene from Top Gun — but the pilot’s commanders in the Royal Danish Air Force clearly don’t think he’s a goose or a maverick, as they opted to release the footage.

Selfies are quite popular among fighter pilots, according to The Aviationist — but it’s rare to find one where an air-to-air missile is being deployed because these kinds of firing tests do not occur often.

The footage and the selfie was taken in 2012, but has only been released now online.

And for those wondering — the pilot didn’t actually wield an iPhone, it was taken by an in-cockpit camera.
