A TikTok user was left gobsmacked in a local op shop after flicking through a random photo album on Friday afternoon only to discover it contained decades-old images of former prime minister Scott Morrison.
Charli Foo came across the album at a Salvos store in Rockdale in Sydney’s south and shared the find on social media later that day.
The first few pages document the politician’s trip to Port Douglas, described in a handwritten caption as part of attending the Tourism Task Force director’s meeting.
Mr Morrison was deputy chief executive of the Australian Tourism Task Force from 1995 to 1996.
Subsequent images show a young Mr Morrison strewn across a beach lounge at the Sheraton Mirage resort in the Gold Coast, and later, posing in front of a friend’s home in West London.
“Scott very, very, very TIRED after spending the day with Steve Girvan. I think too many Guinesses,” another caption reads, dated New Year’s Eve 1996.
The Irish theme continues into the next set of images which show the former prime minister wandering the streets of Dublin on January 8 1997, “without Jen.”
The caption explains the significance of this date, noting that it was Ms Morrison’s birthday.
“Scott went sightseeing without Jen. She was sick, sick, sick with the flu … in bed,” it reads.
Social media users described the find as ‘insane” and “crazy,” with one person suggesting the material be handed over to a “museum or university”.
“Future historians would froth over having this kind of source material,” they added.
