SHE was the first monarch ever to send email, and now the Queen has sent her first ever tweet.
While opening an information technology gallery at the Science Museum in London, the Queen tapped out the message to 724,000 followers of the @BritishMonarchy account, after first removing a glove: “It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.”
The account is usually managed by palace staff.

It may not be the most electrifying post of 140 characters or fewer, but kudos goes to the early-adopting 88-year-old monarch whose 30-year-old grandson, Prince Harry, only made his twitter debut a few months ago.
While it may be the first time the Queen has tapped out a message on the social media platform, she already made a stunning impact on Twitter when she photobombed a selfie by Hockeyroo Jayde Taylor that went viral.

The Queen has a reputation for embracing new technology. She not only made the first live Christmas broadcast in 1957 — she was the first monarch to send an email in 1976, during a visit to the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment, while most of us still clung to a hand-delivered telegram as the most urgent method of sending a note.
