A man has been charged with bestiality and child abuse offences following a four-month investigation.

Police seize puppies and dogs

Puppies and dogs have been taken from the home of a man accused of bestiality and child abuse in northwest Sydney.

The 40-year-old man, who has been investigated by the Australian Federal Police since April, was charged with multiple offences following the execution of a search warrant at the man’s home in Hebersham.

The AFP began its investigation after receiving a report from the US National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children about a user uploading child abuse material to a Google platform.

A preliminary review of the man’s phone, which was obtained during the search, allegedly revealed files containing child abuse material, highly explicit conversations about abusing children and bestiality material.

Police will allege the materials were produced by the man.

“The phone will be subject to further forensic examination,” the AFP said.

Around 20 dogs, which were allegedly kept in inhumane conditions, were seized from the property with the help of investigators from RSPCA NSW.

The man was due to face Mount Druitt Local Court on Wednesday.

Detective Sergeant Navi Pandher said the AFP will “continue to stay a step ahead of this vile industry to ensure those preying on children face the full force of the law”.

The man was charged with multiple offences including two counts of possessing or controlling child abuse material, three counts of using a carriage service to transmit, make available, publish, distribute or promote child abuse material, and one count of engaging in an act of bestiality.

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
