THE notorious hacker known as Guccifer, who leaked George W. Bush's animal artwork to the world, has reportedly been arrested.
Gawker reports that Romanaian authorities arrested Marcel Lazar Lehel, 40, at his home in Arad.
The website says that Romania's Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) raided Lazar Lehel's home last night and that he was reportedly arrested shortly after.
Lazar Lehel has been arrested for hacking before. In February 2012, he was convicted of dozens of hacking-related charges and received a three year suspended sentence for attacks on dozens of Romanian officials between October 2010 and July 2011.
Guccifer has accessed e-mail correspondence, contact lists, phone records, personal photos, online storage sites, and a wide range of confidential financial documents, including credit card, banking, and investment statements.
He was the man who leaked Bush's animal paintings to the world and has targeted a number of big name celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, comedian Steve Martin; editor Tina Brown, author Kitty Kelley; actress Mariel Hemingway; Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, Leonardo DiCaprio and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
Just earlier this month Guccifer told The Smoking Gun that he was not worried about getting caught.
"NO I am not concerned, i think i switch the proxies go to play some backgammon on yahoo watch tv, play with my family and daughter," he said.
