THE season finale of Game of Thrones has been already been torrented an absurd amount of times by illegal downloaders across the globe.

THE season finale of Game of Thrones was the must-see television event of the year, with millions of people around the globe tuning in to see what the show had to offer.

While Aussies with Foxtel accounts were undoubtedly transfixed to their screens, those without subscription services were forced to obtain the episode through more dubious avenues.

As expected, the finale of the popular television show was highly sought after on torrent websites, with piracy numbers peaking overnight.

Shortly after airing, the episode had been illegally downloaded an absurd number of times.

According toTorrentFreak, more than 350,000 people were actively sharing a copy of the episode within hours of it going to air.

In fact, more than a million people had already downloaded the finale via BitTorrent alone.

Unlike previous years when standard definition copies of the television series were more popular, the one gigabyte HD version of the torrent reigned supreme with this year’s finale.

Despite being very popular among illegal downloaders, the episode has not been downloaded enough to set a new record when compared to previous years.

This could have something to do with the legal alternatives offering the show or people could just be a little slower downloading the content this time around.
