WHEN it was first released in July, it appeared the Pokemon Go craze seemed as if it was never going to die.
People flooded to the iOS App Store and Google Play to download the game as it was released in different regions across the globe.
It has not even two months since release, but the outlook for the game remaining at the top of the download charts is grim.
Data from Sensor Tower, SurveyMonkey, and Apptopia has show a decline in daily active users, downloads, engagement, and time spent on the app per day.
Senior analyst Victor Anthony said investors and executives at the likes of Facebook, Instagram and Tinder can now relax.
“Given the rapid rise in usage of the Pokemon Go app since the launch in July, investors have been concerned that this new user experience has been detracting from time spent on other mobile focused apps,” he told Bloomberg.
Taking things further, Mr Anthony said Google has shown a decrease for interest in augmented reality gaming over the past month too.
“The Google Trends data is already showing declining interest in augmented reality, whereas interest in virtual reality remains high,” he concludes.
Despite Pokemon Go being on its final days in Australia, the last country to get the app is just starting to see the early mayhem.
In Taiwan, thousands of Pokemon Go players have raced through a busy intersection in Taipei to catch a Snorlax.
According to Chinese media reports, the civil-defence brigade and police reinforcements from neighbouring areas were called to combat overcrowding on the streets.
