FOR one heartbroken man from Perth, revenge is a dish best served on Gumtree.
In a short advert for a Nintendo Switch plus three games which have “never been played”,
the seller, Mitch, told potential buyers of a tragic love story behind his decision to sell the games console.
He wrote that he bought the console as a romantic present for his ex-partner. However, he claims that she cheated on him shortly after and never played the computer games he gave her.
“Bought this for the missus, turns out she’d rather be playing with strangers’ willies than Legend Of Zelda so I’m selling it,” he wrote on the advert.
“Limited edition Mario version. Full working order. No box because she threw it out.”
At a heavily discounted asking price of $400, the red Nintendo is worth up to $560 in a bundle, and Mitch’s advert included a number of games — including the critically acclaimed Legend Of Zelda game mentioned in the love story.
The advert was quickly shared on social media to an outpouring of support from strangers.
“Damn that stings,” said one commenter on Reddit. “He really did care for her if he bought her a limited edition Switch, and most likely he didn’t buy it for himself since it looks like he doesn’t game much since he is selling it with three games not played yet after that unfortunate event. Well I wish him all the best.”
“That’s so sad,” wrote another. “If I had some money, I would buy and play it with him.”
It appears that several interested buyers have contacted Mitch to inquire about the games console. Several commenters said they had tried to contact Mitch to buy the Nintendo, but had no response.
However, Mitch’s love life may take a turn for the better because of the advert. One social media commenter suggested the Perth man may have found another love interest to give the games to.
