FANS of the long-running but oddly not-really-connected-to-each-other Final Fantasy series will doubtless be looking forward to Final Fantasy XV’s September 30 release on PS4.
In the meantime, there’s a CGI movie – Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV coming, starring Sean Bean and Lena Headey (names which will be familiar to Game of Thrones fans), along with Aaron Paul in the main role, best known for his work as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad.
The film’s plot, which like the game is set in the modern but magical Kingdom of Lucis, will reportedly serve as an introduction to the series for newcomers while expanding on some of the background for the game itself.
Sean Bean will be playing Regis, King of Lucis, with Lena Headey as Princess Luna, delivering a ring to Regis’ son Prince Noctis, and Aaron Paul will be voicing the protagonist Nyx, one of Regis’ elite Kingslaive soldiers.
While there’s no specific release date at present, the film will be out before the game.
Additionally, a five-part anime series, Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV, is also being released in the run-up to the game’s launch. The first of the stand-alone episodes is on YouTube and all five episodes will be made available for free.
