Fallout 4 took out the Game of the Year category at the British Academy Games Awards in London

ONE of the most popular role-playing games (RPGs) of recent years has collected a British Academy of Film and Television Award (BAFTA), taking out the Game of the Year category at the British Academy Games Awards in London.
Fallout 4 took the top spot ahead of British indie exploration mystery game Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture, CD Projekt Red’s action RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Hideo Kojima-directed action-stealth game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture collected three awards for Audio Achievement, Best Performer and Music, while interactive movie Her Story also took three gongs in the Debut Game, Game Innovation and Mobile and Handheld categories.
Batman: Arkham Knight was named best British Game and prison simulator Prison Architect received the best Persistent Game nod, with action RPG Bloodborne receiving the award for Game Design.
Popular vehicular soccer title Rocket League won the awards for Best Sports Game, Best Multiplayer Game and Best Family Game, while the AMD eSports Audience Award went to battle arena game Smite.
Survival horror title Until Dawn was named Best Original Property, while episodic adventure Life is Strange was named as having Best Story. The anime-inspired Ori and the Blind Forest won the Artistic Achievement award, while multiplayer stealth game Sundown was named a BAFTA One To Watch.
Also on the night, influential games designer John Carmack — best known for Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake — received a prestigious BAFTA fellowship.
