The best video games to get you through lockdown

The next instalment of the iconic Call of Duty franchise will release on November 13 this year, and shortly after for the hotly anticipated next generation consoles, but one group of gamers is going to be able to play it early this weekend.

The announcement was made shortly after a gameplay demo at Sony’s PlayStation showcase on Thursday morning.

Raven Software creative director Dan Vondrak said during the showcase that the next Call of Duty will feature “the next generation of multiplayer online combat and an all new awesome zombies experience” in addition to its campaign.

From (very) early Saturday morning, you’ll be able to take part in the multiplayer Alpha on PS4.

Being an Alpha test you can expect to find a few bugs and glitches, but that’s precisely the point.

The Alpha allows you to play six-on-six combat modes as well as the new 12-on-12 Combined Arms Domination mode.

Combined Arms brings a Battlefield flavour to Call of Duty, bringing larger maps and vehicles like tanks, snowmobiles and gunboats.

While you won’t be able to play multiplayer until around 3am on Saturday morning, you can pre-load the data and have it ready to go ahead of time, which is a smart move given it’s a 25GB install.

The game itself, when it releases, will likely be several times that amount, worth considering if you’re thinking of picking up the digital Xbox that only has around 500GB of storage.
