Maxwell gaming headset: Crisp and clear headphones are damn good for gaming

I tested out the new Maxwell gaming headset. There were two things that instantly caught my attention.

“The bomb has been defused” is one of the best in-game messages to hear when you’re playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for the counter-terrorists.

It’s one of those games where communication is key.

You can warn your teammates of a bombsite rush — and if you crank up the volume — you can detect footsteps as an enemy approaches.

I’ve been playing for years on my crappy PC speakers, so I was keen to give CS:GO a whirl with the new Maxwell gaming headset recently released by Audeze. You can never go wrong with Dust II.

I found the audio to be incredibly crisp and clear. The microphone also worked well (as confirmed by my teammates).

Now I’m just waiting for the release of Counter-Strike 2.

Good audio is critical while gaming.

Noise reduction

I’ve also been blasting some music through the headphones while working and studying. The noise-reduction really helped to drown out background noise and help me concentrate.

Actually Audeze employs an AI system that automatically eliminates annoying background noises like keyboard clacking.

You can also easily switch between high and low noise suppression modes with the press of a button.

The Maxwell wireless gaming headset has an attractive design.

The audio was lag-free, which is super important while gaming.

It comes with Bluetooth 5.3 – which is stable and secure. It was also easy to connect; just two clicks of the power button puts the headphones into pairing mode.

There’s also a handy USB-C dongle for a quick connection. The dongle is also required if you want to achieve low latency.

Best thing about the headphones

One of the best things about the headphones is the massive battery life. It has an expected battery lifespan of 80+ hours – and it definitely lived up to that. The headphones are also compatible with fast-charging which is excellent (and really should be standard nowadays). You can play all day with just a 20 minute charge.

What sets the Maxwell gaming headset apart is its ultra-low-latency, high-resolution audio with up to 24-bit 96kHz when you’re wired up.

It comes with a Dolby Atmos license for Xbox and Windows, and it supports PlayStation’s Tempest 3D Audi.

It also works across a range of common gaming machines, with both the PlayStation and Xbox versions compatible with Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.

Importantly, if you’re having a long gaming session, the headphones are very comfortable, with aluminium yokes and a spring steel headband.

These are some damn fine headphones.
