Rain forecast for Sydney, Brisbane on election day

As Aussies gear up to cast their votes on election day, some need to be more prepared than others because of what Mother Nature has in store.

Not all will be fair as millions of Aussies head to election booths across the country to cast their votes on Saturday.

Some states will be bathing in sunlight, while others face heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Sydneysiders face the possibility of showers and should remember their umbrellas and raincoats as they venture out to cast their votes, as the chance of rain is predicted to be 40 per cent.

Rain is most likely in the morning, and there is also a chance of fog in the outer west, so drivers should remain vigilant if setting out in the early hours of the day.

Temperatures will be up to 23C, with a light breeze that will ease in the afternoon.

Australia’s Sunshine State will also not be so sunny, as Brisbane faces a shower or two on election day as well.

The chance of rain in Brisbane is at 60 per cent, and southerly winds up to 25km/h are also predicted.

Forecasts suggest a mixed bag for those in Western Australia.

The Kimberley and Pilbara regions can expect a hot and sunny day with a top of 35C, while those further south in Perth are tipped to see rain with a maximum of 22C.

There is also a warning for gale winds in on the Leeuwin and Albany Coast.

Darwin is in a similar boat, with a mostly sunny day and 34C.

Adelaideans and Melbournians will also be able to enjoy a mostly sunny day, with temperatures up to 25C and 22C, respectively.

Hobart is expected to be partly cloudy, while Canberra residents are in for clear skies. Temperatures are tipped to reach 19C to 20C in both cities.
