The Hunter Region of New South Wales experienced its second earthquake in as many days, with a magnitude 4.5 tremor shaking the area at 4.40pm near Muswellbrook.
This follows a similar a magnitude 4.7 quake on Friday, according to Geoscience Australia.
Saturday’s earthquake was accompanied by a series of aftershocks, ranging from magnitude 2.5 to 2.7, but no injuries have been reported, according to NSW Ambulance.
The State Emergency Service indicated that reports so far have only involved minor damage.
Electricity provider Ausgrid told the ABC that power outages occurred briefly in the affected area but have since been fully restored.
However, some local areas, including Woodland Ridge and parts of Eastbrook Links, remain without water.
The Muswellbrook Shire Council acknowledged the situation in a statement issued just before 7pm, assuring residents that efforts to restore water supplies were underway.
“Council staff are working now to restore water supply to these areas as soon as possible,” a statement read.
Local residents shared their experiences of the quake.
Wayne Toms, a Muswellbrook local, told the ABC, “We were just in the house and felt the house shake for a few seconds again, similar to yesterday, but not as strong.”
“No damage here in our house, but walking around there’s a few drawers open and there’s a few things that have just moved again slightly. I mean the house certainly rattled,” he said.
On social media, residents from the asked whether or not hey were the only ones to feel the shaking.
“Did anyone feel a slight tremor or clinking noise at about 4.30pm?,” one wrote on Saturday afternoon from Lithgow.
“Shook from side to side,” one person responded.
Others on other forums said it was less intense than the one felt on Friday.
“My windows rattled for about two seconds,” one woman wrote.
“Very quick and minimal movement,” another from Killarney Vale on The Central Coast said.
