Dozens of roads across southeast Queensland are closed on Tuesday due to flooding, with drivers urged to be cautious.

Flash flooding and swollen creeks have forced dozens of roads across southeast Queensland to close, with more expected to be impacted as the rain continues on Tuesday.

More than 200mm fell on parts of the Gold Coast hinterland in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning, prompting warnings from the state Emergency Services Minister to stay home.

“It is imperative that people stay abreast of the weather warnings and also that everyone take a cautious approach when driving on the roads,” Mark Ryan said.

“We all have a responsibility to make good decisions on the road to keep other drivers and ourselves now.”
