Would you go this far for a job?

IT’S either self-belief that he can realise a dream — or delusion — that has brought Loah Linares to this point in his life.

IT’S either self-belief or delusion that has brought Loah Linares here, to the sidewalk outside of Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles in hopes of realising his baseball dream.

Linares said he left Cuba and has been sleeping outside for the past 19 days in hopes the Dodgers will give him a tryout.

His name doesn’t come up as a prospect anywhere, and in video footage, he also doesn’t seem too young.

“If I didn’t know how great a baseball player I know I am,” he told ABC 7 in LA, “I wouldn’t be here trying to show off my skills to somebody.”

Linares said his inspiration is Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play in the major leagues.

The Dodgers have a Cuban star on their team in Yasiel Puig, and Linares — in a sleepover strategy that recalls the Willie Mays Hayes character in Major League — is hoping to catch on.

“Shortstop, second base, third base … Once again, I just want the opportunity to show them, not tell them,” Linares said.

The Dodgers said security once had prevented Linares trying to enter the stadium.

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, an expert on Latin American prospects, wrote: “Experts I talk to have never heard of him and say no [Cuban league] Serie Nacional history.”
