LaVar Ball claims son LaMelo could move to NBL before NBA Draft

Entrepreneur LaVar Ball has made a huge call on the future of his basketball star son’s future that could see them both coming to Australia.

Oh god, he might actually be coming.

NBA dad from hell LaVar Ball has revealed his star youngest son LaMelo is eyeing a move to Australia to play in the NBL.

The teenage prodigy is yet to announce where he will play his first year out of high school before he is able to nominate for the NBA Draft.

Ball’s shoe and apparel company Big Baller Brand appears on the brink of disaster after Lakers star Lonzo Ball turned his back on his own dad’s company to reportedly move to Nike.

But the family patriarch showed no signs of worry on Monday as he announced LaMelo is considering Australia as one of his top options for next year.

LaMelo, widely scouted as the most talented sibling in the family, has already played professionally overseas in Lithuania, where he became the youngest American basketballer to ever sign a professional basketball contract.

He has since returned to play high school basketball in Ohio and is now considering his options for his year out of school.

LaVar Ball said he doesn’t want his son to waste a year in college and also doesn’t want to see his son targeted by mature players in the G-League looking to make a name for themselves.

“He’s definitely going overseas,” he said.

When asked where he was looking, Ball responded: “Australia or China”.

LaMelo’s potential move to Australia would see him become one of many NBA players choosing to play professionally in Australia against grown men, rather than spend a full season playing in College before they are able to nominate for the NBA Draft.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Terrance Ferguson impressed for the Adelaide 36ers in his season in the NBL before he went on to be selected with the No. 21 overall pick at the 2017 NBA Draft.

LaVar’s declaration is expected to kick-start a bidding war for his son’s signature with both Australian and Chinese teams expected to open their chequebooks for the start.

LaMelo is expected to follow in his eldest brother’s shoes and become a top five draft pick when he enters the NBA.

Lonzo has endured another difficult season in the NBA, despite the arrival of LeBron James to his Lakers team.

US entrepreneur LaVar Ball spoke to it.

The LA Lakers player cut ties with his dad’s business last month after rumours of a link to Nike emerged. Either there’s still plenty of bad blood or the NBA star’s going to great lengths to keep future sponsors happy.

A new photo of Lonzo’s arm that was once inked with “BBB” shows he’s gotten rid of the letters and replaced them with three dice. It comes after Lonzo reportedly deleted all traces of Big Baller Brand from his social media accounts.

Earlier this week Lonzo’s manager Darren Moore posted a video of himself on Instagram throwing Big Baller Brand shoes in the bin and encouraging everyone to “#dumpurmerch”.

The revolt against his own family’s company comes after co-founder of Big Baller Brand and family friend of the Balls, Alan Foster, was dragged into controversy over a missing $US1.5 million.

According to ESPN, Lonzo severed all contact with BBB because of concerns over Foster’s possible involvement in the missing cash.

The great soap opera that is the Ball family, could all be heading Down Under.
