Television host Tony Jones has finally explained the “real story” behind his infamous failed kiss on Bec Judd.
The Sunday Footy Show host was baited into talking about the cringe-worthy moment by Billy Brownless, who placed Jones at the top of his ‘top five viral moments’ list.
AFL fans and his co-hosts have poked fun at the respected journalist for years, for moments such as a failed handshake from Shannon Noll, missing a handball completely on live TV and - most of all - the time Judd avoided a peck on the cheek from him, live on Nine News.
Jones explained the latter incident this morning, suggesting Nine news director Hugh Nailon was to blame.
“I’ve put up with that crap for years, and it’s not my fault!” Jones declared.

“Our news director, Hugh Nailon, here at Channel 9 at Melbourne. He didn’t organise the flowers. I was supposed to present Bec the flowers.
“And when we realised he’d forgotten to organise the flowers, I said, well I’m going home.
“And then I think John Murphy was the floor manager, he sort of said, you’re gonna stay here, you’ll stay here and play happy families. Well that was a real happy family, wasn’t it?
“So it wasn’t my fault.”
However Jones was then asked why exactly he went in for a kiss in the first place, to which he explained, “to wish her luck!”
Brownless’ response? “Not with those teeth, mate.”
Poor Chompers.
