ADELAIDE’S iconic Tour Down Under will remain in January and on the WorldTour, cycling’s governing body announced on Tuesday.
The UCI ended speculation over the event’s future by announcing the week-long stage race would not be moved to February in a bid to shorten the season and would remain at the start of the WorldTour calendar.
The decision was made at a UCI management committee meeting in the United States, where Richmond, Virginia, is hosting the road world championships.
Next year’s TDU is set for January 16-24, with local boy Rohan Dennis expected to return to defend his title.
