HALF a wheel was all that separated Stage 3 winner Simon Gerrans from BMC Racing’s Rohan Dennis in a frighteningly fast descent to the finish line at Campbelltown today.
Orica-GreenEDGE rider Gerrans crossed the finish line with Dennis and Canadian Michael Woods close behind after being clocked going faster than 100km/h during the descent.
“I’m thrilled to have won the stage but there was some risk involved,” Gerrans said after the race.
The win means Gerrans now holds the overall lead by three seconds.
