NICK Kyrgios never keeps secrets from his mum. There’s no point, she knows everything. So it was no surprise when Norlaila Kyrgios busted her son after finding an email from Queensland’s finest.

NICK Kyrgios knows there’s no point trying to keep secrets from his mum.

This was rammed home recently when Norlaila Kyrgios busted her son about getting on the wrong side of the law.

It turns out Nick isn’t great on emails and it’s left to his mother, who he calls the CEO of his team, to keep everything up to date.

“I’m really bad on email. Mum cleans out my inbox. There’s no point having anything secret in there because mum will know straight away,” Kyrgios said.

“She saw an email from Queensland Police there during the Brisbane International last week. She was straight on the phone. ‘Nick! Have you done some wrong in Queensland?’

“Yep. I did. I got a traffic fine. There was no point trying to deny it. Nothing gets past mum.”

In a column with the PlayersVoice website, Kyrgios also explained his mother’s other roles included masseur and clothes washer.

“I don’t like putting my clothes into the tournament laundry because they shrink and cling to me,” he said.

“So mum has taken that over, too. She washes my gear in her hotel basin and hangs it up all over her room. It looks like a laundry! She’s been doing this for years.”

His father, Giorgos, plays a lesser role given he still works as a painter in Canberra but when he’s on the tour Mr Kyrgios takes care of his son’s racquets, meticulously checking the grips, strings and tension.

CRAZY COCO IN BANANA-GATE

IT’S a headline writer’s nirvana.

The American actually refused to continue playing until she was brought a banana.

“I’m waiting for the bananas,” she told chair umpire Fergus Murphy when he asked why she wasn’t ready to play at the start of the second set.

“Why should I feel uncomfortable because the court is ill-prepared?”

Vandeweghe spoke with Murphy for about another minute before she got her bananas and continued to play.

She was hit with a code violation for time wasting.

Clearly the delay in her potassium hit had an impact as the No.10 seed suffered a shock loss to Hungary’s Timea Babos.

YOU know you’ve made it in Latvia if you get your own stamp.

French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko received the honour after last year’s triumph at Roland Garros.

“Actually, it was very, very impressive because not many athletes in Latvia get a stamp,” she said after breezing through to the second round.

“Hey, look at my stamp.”

“When they told me, I was very, very happy, because I think it’s a big thing if they make a stamp. Especially they made 55,000 stamps and they were sold out on the first day.”

The 20-year-old admitted she was surprised by the reaction.

“I mean, I expected it that I would be popular in my country but not, like, selling 55,000 stamps in one day.”
