Nick Kyrgios unloads on Croatia’s Borna Coric in latest social media barrage

The tennis world continues to get under the skin of Aussie superstar Nick Kyrgios as he took aim at yet another fellow pro.

"How selfish can you all get?" Kyrgios slams the tennis world

Nick Kyrgios once again continues to be a voice of reason as the world continues its fight against the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The Aussie superstar has called out his fellow pros over the past few months as they flaunt social distancing protocols.

His hard line stance has earned him widespread praise and left many to question why other big name players haven’t spoken out.

Kyrgios slammed Novak Djokovic’s “stupidity” after the Serbian star tested positive for coronavirus after taking part in a tennis exhibition series in the Balkan region.

Professional tennis stars Borna Coric, Grigor Dimitrov and Viktor Troicki also tested positive for the virus after playing in the Adria Tour, an exhibition tournament launched by Djokovic.

But as he continues to call out his boneheaded fellow pros, the shots have come in thick and fast back in his direction with Croatian Borna Coric the latest to take a swipe.

“I read what he wrote, but I simply don’t care since he likes to be a ‘general after a battle’,” Coric told the Jutarnji List newspaper.

“If someone else was teaching lessons I would have maybe understood, but Kyrgios … It’s somehow not realistic.

“But OK, it’s his style, that’s how he functions, I have no problem with that neither does it bother me on personal level.”

Kyrgios may not have built the best reputation on the court throughout his career, but throughout the pandemic he has shown to be the standout leader in the men’s tennis world.

Coric’s shot in his direction, in the eyes of Kyrgios, missed the mark of what he was talking about and trying to get his fellow pros to understand.

In a follow up tweet, Kyrgios tagged Coric directly and wrote:

“Just making sure that you spuds didn’t cause more players to feel like Dimitrov. Have you read how he continued to feel after he tested negative? Or that’s too much for that brain of yours to process?”

Coric joins the long list of players to have faced the wrath of Kyrgios over the past few months with German star Alexander Zverev and world no. 3 Dominic Thiem copping the full brunt.

Zverev had pledged to self-isolate after featuring in the ill-fated Adria tour that led to Djokovic, his wife, three more players and other members of their various entourage testing positive to coronavirus following a stint at a Belgrade nightclub.

Then, just days after his public apology, videos emerged of Zverev partying in Monaco.

Thiem labelled Kyrgios’ criticism at Djokovic and Zverev as “nonsense”.

Kyrgios responded by questioning Zverev’s intelligence after he still failed to grasp the real world consequences for social distancing breakdowns during the global coronavirus pandemic.

“What are you talking about @ThiemDomi,” Kyrgios posted on Twitter.

“Mistakes like smashing rackets? Swearing? Tanking a few matches here or there? Which everyone does? None of you have the intellectual level to even understand where I’m coming from. I’m trying to hold them accountable.”

He went on to suggest Thiem, Djokovic and Zverev could all learn a lot about being role models during a global crisis.

“This just shows what a joke @ThiemDomi @AlexZverev & @DjokerNole think this is,” he wrote.

“2 of them partying like potato’s during a global pandemic. People losing lives, loved ones and friends, and then Thiem standing up for the ‘mistake’.

“These guys are the ‘top’ of our sport. SMH.”
