Italian Matteo Berrettini is the latest international star to join the Kooyong Classic’s bulging player roster.

The US Open semi-finalist has signed to join world No.6 Stefanos Tsitsipas at the former home of the Australian Open from Tuesday.

The emerging pairs headlines a decorated cast including grand slam champions Marin Cilic, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki.

Berrettini’s presence leaves AgBioEn tournament director Peter Johnston with the enviable challenge of balancing a match schedule to suit all participants.

Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic, Nick Kyrgios, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, Richard Gasquet, Ajla Tomljanovic and Coco Vandeweghe will also feature.

“It’s great to have Matteo on-board,” Johnston said. “He had a breakout season in 2019.

“He will bring charisma and a lot of firepower to Kooyong.

“The other great thing, too, is Nick Kyrgios’ excitement about returning to Kooyong despite having a busy and successful time in the ATP Cup.”
