And even after his heartbreaking loss last night, he was still able to deliver a well-timed zinger on his way out the Melbourne Park doors.
In the aftermath of the four-set loss to Rafael Nadal, Kyrgios was asked to compare his current game to in 2015 when he made his only Australian Open quarterfinal.
“I mean, I think I’m playing better tennis than I was,” he started.

“You look at my draw back then to the opponents I played this time around, probably a lot tougher this time around.”
It was then he decided to hit one more ace.
“But, I mean, looking how far I’ve come, I guess there were only 15 players better than me in the draw. That was for (Alexander) Zverev, but that was a joke,” he said with a smile.
Before the tournament began, Kyrgios and Zverev got into a public back and forth over comments the German made about Kyrgios’ chances of making a deep run at his home slam.
“I think there are a lot of young guys that are right now, no offence, just better than him,” Zverev said.
“Over five sets you need to be consistent.

“It’s not a three-set match where you can win in an hour and twenty and get off the court.
“To beat the best out there (in grand slams) you need to play at your best for a longer period of time.”
Zverev ultimately will be laughing last though. He is into the final eight after defeating Andrey Rublev yesterday.
