Danielle Collins can start planning that five-star vacation she was so keen to ram down all of Australia’s throats.
But not before an Aussie tennis fan managed to give her a special send-off after the tennis villain crashed out of the Australian Open in straight sets on Saturday night.

The 31-year-old American, who managed to alienate the entire nation with her crass celebrations on Thursday, is now packing her bags following a meek 6-4 6-4 defeat to compatriot Madison Keys.
She left sporting a bandage on her left knee after she needed treatment during the match, with fans raining boos down on Collins before and after her follow-up performance on Rod Laver Arena.
Another keen observer may have had the last laugh, however, after managing to edit her Wikipedia page late on Saturday.
In her introduction on the site, an edit which has since been deleted read: “Danielle Rose Collins is an American professional tennis player who became the laughing stock for an entire nation with her loss to Madison Keys in the 2025 Australian Open tennis grand slam tournament.”
It didn’t last too long, the page now simply states that she is a professional tennis player, but it pretty eloquently summarised how many Australians feel about her.
There was increased interest in Saturday night’s match after Collins was widely hammered for her behaviour following her win over Australian Destanee Aiava in the second round.
After blowing kisses and smacking her own butt towards the stands, Collins told the crowd: “You know I was thinking during the match, I was like ‘hmm, if I’m out here I may as well just take that big, fat pay cheque’.
“Coco (Vandeweghe) and I just love a five-star vacation, so part of that cheque is going to go towards that, so thank you guys.”
It meant Collins was in for a hot reception on Rod Laver Arena and that’s what occurred, with the American managing a wry smile as the boos rained down upon her introduction.
The crowd was then relatively muted during the match, which lacked any of the fireworks or passion generated by Aiava’s attempt to keep her tournament going.
Collins then quickly left the stadium after the match, raising two fingers on one hand to the crowd as she left to another chorus of boos from an Australian public that won’t be wishing for a return appearance any time soon.
Collins announced her retirement early in the 2024 season before reversing her decision and her immediate future is not yet known.
“Keys beats Collins 6-4 6-4 and Collins – heckled sporadically throughout and struggling with her left knee near the end – hears more boos as she leaves the court,” tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg wrote on X.
Keys, the 19th seed, cruised through the first set before finding herself 3-0 down in the second.
Collins appeared to be labouring and after Keys ripped off four straight games, the 10th seed called a medical time-out and ultimately got some strapping for her left knee.
She was able to continue and won her next service game, but one break of serve was enough for Keys, who served out the match in one hour, 23 minutes.
Fans were having a field day at Collins’ expense after the match.
One wrote on X: “Life comes at you fast hey Danielle Collins, one minute you are boasting about your money and show your lack of class, the next you are booed, lose and pick up an injury.”
Another suggested: “Danielle “Villain” Collins is now out of the Australian Open tournament, losing in straight sets to Keys. I’m starting to think her and Bernard Tomic would make a great couple. They can get together and count their money.”
A third declared: “Danielle Collins “The Karen” is gone. No more childish behaviour.”
A fourth didn’t mince words when they wrote: “Suck it Danielle Collins.”
Collins didn’t back away from her behaviour on the court from Thursday when she spoke to the media later that night.
“One of the greatest things about being a professional athlete is the people that don’t like you and the people that hate you, they actually pay your bills,” she said.
“It’s kind of a cool concept. Obviously my professional career is not going to last forever. So I just remind myself every day when I have that kind of stuff, they’re paying my bills.
“Every person that’s bought a ticket to come out here and heckle me or do what they do, it’s all going towards the Danielle Collins Fund.
“Me and my group of girlfriends love a five-star vacation. I can guarantee you that cheque is going to go towards our next five-star trip, hopefully to The Bahamas. We like big boats, we like big boats, we like yachts. We’ll post about it, let you guys know how it goes.”
That holiday planning can start now after her swift exit on Saturday night and many Aussie fans will be hoping that’s the last they see of her.
