Genie Bouchard sends internet into a spin with cheeky dating question on her Twitter page

Social media sensation Genie Bouchard has cheekily thrown her hat back into the dating ring with the popular Canadian tennis star posing a question on her Twitter page during the NFL playoffs.

Genie Bouchard has once again blown up the internet with her tweeting during the NFL playoffs.

As the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs battled out a classic overtime thriller for the AFC Championship, the tennis star cheekily posed a question on her Twitter page.

“This game thooo. Any bets?”

Bouchard and the Patriots have some history dating back to the 2017 Super Bowl when she declared if New England fought back — they were down 28-3 to the Atlanta Falcons at the time — and won then she would agree to go on a date with one of her followers (she has 1.7 million).

John Goehrke was the lucky guy on Twitter who’d made the bet and when the Patriots produced an incredible comeback to win, Bouchard was true to her word and went on the date.

In fact the pair hit it off and went on multiple dates. They were then invited by NFL Canada to last year’s Superbowl where the Philadelphia Eagles upset the Patriots.

Naturally Bouchard, who was defeated in the second round of the Open by Serena Williams, received plenty of offers from her tweet with prospective suitors falling over themselves to engage.

For the record the Patriots scored a touchdown with the opening drive of overtime to book a spot in their third consecutive Superbowl.

GERMAN CAUSES QUITE A RACKET COURTSIDE

Sometimes a comment from the crowd can sum up a moment perfectly.

German Alexander Zverev had an epic racquet smashing meltdown on Rod Laver Arena late in the second set against Canada’s Milos Raonic.

The 21-year-old was getting thrashed and had only won two games for the match by this stage so he decided he needed to release some tension.

It took nine attempts — five on one side and four on the other — before he successfully broke the racquet.

When he returned to the court Zverev lost the first point of the next game which drew the crowd comment: “It’s not the racquet.”

The smashing incident actually did spark the No. 4 seed into some improved tennis although he eventually lost the match in a third-set tie-break.

Asked about it in his post-match interview, Zverev said: “Yeah, it made me feel better. I was very angry, so I let my anger out.”

WIG AND SHADES: OSAKA NOT SO INVISIBLE IN HOMELAND

She doesn’t get recognised walking around the streets of Melbourne but it’s a different story for Naomi Osaka back in her homeland.

The No. 4 seed joked after her fourth-round victory over Anastasija Sevastova that she hasn’t been feeling the love from the locals at this year’s Open.

“I don’t think they care,” Osaka said. “Am I going to the wrong place? I don’t know.”

She later revealed that her sister had encouraged her to wear a wig when they went out during her latest visit to Japan following her US Open victory.

“I went at night and had a wig on,” Osaka said. “I wanted to try to do that. For me, it was very fun.

“I got it from my sister. She was, like, `You know what you should do? You should bring this wig and if you want to walk around, just throw it on and put on some sunglasses’.

“I personally think she was making it a bigger deal than it had to be.

“I get that I’m tan and I would stand out a little bit in Japan. I think the only way people would really care is if I’m wearing some sort of athletic, like, if I was walking around with my tennis racquet.”

DE MINAUR CUTS SOME MOVES ON THE TILES

There has been a lot of love for Alex de Minaur over the past couple of weeks.

And if possible that affection has gone up even another notch after a video of him dancing on a podium at a popular Melbourne nightclub emerged.

De Minaur was carving it up at the Love Machine nightclub in Prahran on Sunday night and his unique style with some kung-fu kicks and surfing moves certainly had the crowd going bananas.

Channel 9 commentator Jim Courier was impressed: ”Good on him. He’s had a busy month. He’s had a busy off-season. Players do need to blow off steam, get relaxed.

“It’s very important for players to have an outlet like that and don’t take yourself too seriously. He knew there were cameras on him.”

AMERICAN TURNS TO POTION WHEN IN A PICKLE

Frances Tiafoe has revealed the secret weapon behind his giant-killing run to the quarter-finals.

The American, who turned 21 on Sunday, was starting to struggle physically midway through the third set against Grigor Dimitrov.

That’s when he reached for his special potion … pickle juice.

“I was trying to stay alive,” Tiafoe, who lost the third set in a tie-break before taking the match in four sets, said.

“I was downing pickle juice, having that like Kool-Aid, just trying to get that done.

“I’m talking straight up, straight up. Just downing it. Tasted terrible. Feeling terrible right now.”

GRAND SLAM

Some commentary gold from Todd Woodbridge when questioned by John McEnroe about why the crowd were booing during Roger Federer’s match. Prime Minister Scott Morrison was the reason and he’d just appeared on the screen with Woody saying: “That’s our Prime Minister.” For once Mac was lost for words.

And surely we can get a definitive pronunciation on how we should be saying “Stefanos Tsitsipas”. Every second commentator seems to have a different take on the Greek superstar’s surname.

THE WHISPER

Which high-profile international commentator is finding life with the new broadcaster a lot different to what he’s used to? It’s fair to say he’s struggled with the do-it-yourself attitude adopted by the locals.
