TENNIS fans have slammed Channel 7 for their coverage of Friday night’s semi-final between Roger Federer and Hyeon Chung.
The host broadcaster for the Australian Open has been criticised during the tournament for missing games and that was the case again for the crucial semi-final.
Federer was serving in the opening game of the second set and held to love but fans watching from home would have no idea about that as it wasn’t shown in favour of advertising.
The broadcast has also been slammed for interviews with Australian sports start, specifically AFL players, while there is live action happening inside Rod Laver Arena.
During the Federer match it showed an interview with former Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes.
It’s not the first time Channel 7 has copped heat for its coverage, with missing games in favour of ads or updates from around the courts being given priority over live action.
Thanks @Channel7 for missing an entire game due to ads, itâs only the #ausopen semi final

Pathetic coverage so far tonight, playing an interview during the set of a semi final, serious? @Channel7

@Channel7 ridiculous coverage of the tennis with the amount of ads. I've lost count of the amount of times you've cut off points / games because of poorly timed ad breaks #7sport

@Channel7 Just a thought, what about not streaming irrelevant interviews with athletes from different sports during the tennis, while the actual match is underway?
â Fraser Singleton (@PapaFray) January 26, 2018
@Channel7 sort your ads and interviews out as we are here to see the tennis semi finals not poorly timed advertising. As missing a whole game in set 2 is annoying.

@AustralianOpen Sack Channel 7 - canât show the game without hopeless split screen RUBBISH and playing ads during games!!

Poor form @Channel7 skipping @AustralianOpen games for ads - just cut the 1st game/2nd set of Fed/Chung semi. Broadcast IN FULL #AusOpen

Oi #channel7 can we see some of the tennis please!?

#Channel7 lost the plot, cramming in ads and missed an entire game; then interviewing Adam Goods while a point is in play #tennis
