Australian Open Day 7: Crowd savagely mock Danielle Collins
American tennis player Danielle Collins became public enemy number one on Thursday, on Saturday the crowd let her have it.
Day 7 of the Australian Open is in the books and it was perhaps fitting Danielle Collins’ straight sets exit was one of the final acts of the night.
The American quickly became the biggest talking point – and villain – of the grand slam tournament so far after her behaviour following her second-round win over Aussie Destanee Aiava.

There was always going to be intense interest in her follow-up performance and while the 10th seed was booed before and after her 6-4 6-4 defeat to countrywoman Madison Keys, it was a muted and mild exit for the 31-year-old.
An Aussie tennis fan may have had the last laugh when they managed to edit Collins’ Wikipedia page shortly after her defeat.
On the court, there were wins for Iga Swiatek, sixth seed Elena Rybakina, eighth seed Emma Navarro and men’s No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who made a surprising confession in his post-match interview.
There was also a popular win for Alex de Minaur, Australia’s last remaining hope in the singles draw.
Fourth seeds Jasmine Paolini and Taylor Fritz were among the big names that crashed out on Saturday, while 38-year-old Gael Monfils set up a fourth-round match-up with 22-year-old Ben Shelton.
There is a huge Day 8 in store for tennis fans, with Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic all in action.
Already hugely popular, Alcaraz managed to win over even more fans after his priceless interaction with a young Aussie tennis player.
