Tennis queen Ash Barty has been hand-selected to take up a role as an ambassador for Australia.

The three-time grand slam champion has been involved in a major announcement that she will be the new face of Australian Made products.

News Corp first reported the 26-year-old will feature in a publicity storm while promoting Australian Made Week, beginning May 15.

More than 12 months after her shock retirement from tennis, Barty is continuing to proudly represent her country.

“There are so many benefits to buying Australian made, including creating and supporting local jobs and boosting the economies of cities and towns where the goods are produced,” she said.

“There’s a huge amount of choice when it comes to local goods, plus you can buy with confidence knowing that goods carrying the Australian Made logo have been grown and manufactured locally to Australia’s high standards.

“I grew up on some iconic Aussie brands, so I’m incredibly excited to have this opportunity to be part of the Australian Made campaign and spread the word about homegrown favourites and newcomers. Having travelled the world, I feel so much pride in our country and the high-quality goods it produces.”

Barty will be trying to inspire Australian’s to feel proud to buy goods with the iconic “Australian Made” logo on it.

Australian Made Chief Executive Ben Lazzaro said: “Ash is the perfect ambassador to highlight the best this country has to offer. She is an inspiration and loved by Australians”.

Barty already has a lot on her plate.

Barty last year married her long-time partner Garry Kissick, released children’s books, and went jet-setting around the world.

Her biggest announcement came in January when she confirmed she and her husband are expecting their first child.

She also capped off the year winning the Newcombe Medal as Australia best tennis player and Sport Australia’s The Don Award.

The Don is awarded to the athlete or team whose achievements have most inspired the nation.

Her involvement in the NITC is another passion project.
