2026 Billie Jean King Cup playoffs to be held in Hobart
Some of the world’s best tennis players will be on show in Hobart later this year when a major tournament returns for the first time in over a decade.

Hobart is set to become welcome the biggest stand-alone women’s tennis tournament in November.
For the first time since 2014, Tasmania will host the Billie Jean King Cup at the Domain Tennis Centre from November 14-16.
Australia, along with six other countries will serve as host nations in the playoff round, with two other nations involved in the round-robin format.
“We are delighted to be able to play another Billie Jean King Cup tie at home this year,” Aussie captain Sam Stosur said.
“The Australian team cherishes the opportunity to be able to play in Australia and at a familiar venue like the Domain Tennis Centre in Hobart, especially ahead of the Australian summer.
“I can recall fondly how supportive the local community was when we last played Fed Cup in Tasmania in 2014.
“Tassie tennis fans are passionate about international women’s tennis and we can’t wait to get back there and compete.”
Australia will host Brazil and Portugal in November.
Countries including Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland will battle to become one of seven winners who will advance to the 2026 qualifiers.
Australia hosted the Billie Jean King Cup in 2014 when it was called Fed Cup in Hobart when they defeated Russia 4-0 in a World Group first round.
The winning team included Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua, Ash Barty, Storm Hunter and captain Alicia Molik.
The 2025 Billie Jean King Cup finals will be held from September 16-21 in Shenzhen, China, which Australia did not qualify for this season after finishing second in Group D against Kazakhstan and Colombia in April.
Australia is one of four nations to have competed in the Billie Jean King Cup competition every year, sitting second on the all-time champions list.
The event is the perfect preparation for the 30th edition of the Hobart International in January next year.
