Matildas captain Sam Kerr looks destined to play in Europe, with two more offers tabled alongside the mega Chelsea contract.

Football Federation Australia are yet to offer Kerr a contract, which is the only way Perth Glory could keep her in the W-League.

The European offers are in the region of $1 million, and it’s understood that Kerr, 25, is leaning towards testing herself there after 11 years in Australia with Glory and Sydney FC.

Incorporating endorsements and her Matildas contract, Kerr’s earning would be well in excess of $1 million assuming she accepts a European offer.

It’s understood that FFA have been alerted to the overseas offers, with Kerr destined to make a decision over coming months as she concludes her US commitments with Chicago Red Stars.

However the uncertainty at FFA HQ, with the W-League and A-League to transition to an independent model on August 1, plus chief executive David Gallop’s imminent departure, has left the governing body scrambling.

The two other offers are believed to be from continental Europe, including one from Spain, although Kerr’s management refused to comment.

Unlike the US’s National Women’s Soccer League, which sits nicely in between Australian domestic seasons, the European seasons run longer and overlap with the W-League, which starts in October.

Kerr earnt in excess of $300,000 as the W-League’s first ever marquee player last season, from the FFA kitty which also helped subsidise Keisuke Honda’s marquee Melbourne Victory contract.

She rejected more lucrative offers from Europe, with her preference being to stay in Australia in the lead up to the 2019 Women’s World Cup.

The Matildas’ next major tournament is the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
