Diamonds to make change at top as Lisa Alexander departs after almost nine years in charge
Even though her contract wasn’t up until the end of the year, Netball Australia have decided to end Lisa Alexander’s almost nine-year reign as Diamonds coach early.

Lisa Alexander has reportedly departed as Australian netball team coach, bringing an end to her record nine years in the role.
Alexander’s contract was due to finish at the end of 2020 but Netball Australia is holding a media conference in Melbourne at 1pm when it’s expected to confirm they have parted ways.
The Diamonds have long been one of Australia’s most successful national teams but last year they lost the World Cup title for the first time since 2003 and also lost the Commonwealth Games gold medal match to England a year earlier.

Netball Australia chief executive Marne Fecker said ‘there twas a consensus and appetite for change heading into 2021.’“
Still, Alexander was disappointed.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as the Australian Diamonds head coach for the past eight and a half years,” Alexander said in a statement.
“I would dearly have loved to continue in the role beyond December 2020, and whilst disappointed with the decision not to renew my contract, I respect the decision of the board to head in a new direction.”
