MOONEE VALLEY
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: s5120
EXHILARATES (Race 5, No. 1 — $3.10)
She’s in outstanding form and has outclassed her rivals to win her past two starts. She’s against similar company and should chalk up the hat-trick of wins.
Value bet: NOT ENOUGH EFFORT (Race 4, No. 5 — $5)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
ROSEHILL GARDENS
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 68230
GEM SONG (Raced 4, No. 3 — $2.60)
Ran a blinder first-up in the Theo Marks Stakes behind boom mare Arcadia Queen. Talented four-year-old with a good second-up record with a good second-up record and is suited at 1500m. Ready to win.
Value bet: MURILLO (Race 9, No. 5 — $13)
MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph). Form: 35241
GEM SONG (Race 4, No. 3 — $2.60)
He ran a super race first-up against a huge leaders’ bias and has the second-up stats to suggest he’ll at least hold that form which is good enough to win this race.
Value bet: TURNBERRY (Race 9, No. 1 — $19)
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 110s1
RANIER (Race 9, No. 4 — $7)
Has only won 2 races in his 15 starts and they the Gothic and Carbine Club back this time last year but the James Cummings-trained galloper has run some very good races before and after and he does look to be in good spot at the moment.
Value bet: CLASSY FELLA (Race 2, No. 9 — $26)
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 18210
GEM SONG (Race 4, No. 3 — $2.60)
Resumed with a big run behind Arcadia Queen in the Theo Marks and has an excellent second-up record having won two of his three prior attempts.
Drawn nicely and with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle looks the winner.
Value bet: GATTING (Caul Sunday, Race 7, No. 7 — $4.60).
DARREN PRENDERGAST (NewsRacing). Form: 6s271
ENTICING STAR (Race 5, No. 5 — $3.20)
Classy WA mare set for big spring. Has trialled well under care of new trainer Chris Waller and is unbeaten first-up. Hard to fault.
Value bet: KUBRICK (Race 7, No. 6 — $13)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
CAULFIELD
GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun). Form: s8x21
DALASAN (Race 5, No. 3 — $2.70)
Exciting young talent who should be unbeaten and can further enhance his Guineas credentials here.
Value bet: JUMBO OZAKI (Race 9, No. 20 — $4.60)
SIMON MOY (NewsRacing). Form: x1821
DALASAN (Race 5, No. 3 — $2.70)
Drawn to sit just off speed. Strong to line last start so should appreciate extra distance.
Value bet: MISSILE MANTRA (Race 6, No. 6 — $5)
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (NewsRacing). Form: s1112
HOMESMAN (Race 7, No. 8 — $2.80)
He won the Underwood Stakes last year after finishing second in the Feehan Stakes. This time he won the Feehan comfortably and I expect him to be harder to beat in the Underwood.
Value bet: FLIT (Race 6, No. 3 — $4)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 82111
JONKER (Race 7, No. 5 — $1.95)
You will go a long way to find a better placed horse around Australia this weekend. Comes off a campaign where he filled the placings and finished within a length or two of horses like Classique Legend, Redzel and Trope and now finds himself in a SW Class 6. The negative is that he hasn’t won for nearly two years, but he’s been placed against top class for most of that time and seems like David Atkins has simply decided to pick out a race to get him back in the winning groove. $1.95 seems fair enough given the class edge.
Value bet: BALLISTIC BOY (Race 4, No. 4 — $9.50)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE PARKS
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 11132
NISTAAN (Race 4, No. 6 — $1.75)
Hard to knock what he’s been doing recently and won with something in reserve last time.
Nicely weight, will be short, but should be winning again
Value bet: ETNA (Race 2, No. 5 — $7)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
