Last week … Eight winners. Chris Vernuccio (Halvorsen $5.40, Vinland $4.80) and Lincoln Moore (Declarationofheart $2, Hussybay $5) landed the best bet, value tip double, while Glenn McFarlane (Tarwin $2.20), Simon Moy (Twitchy Frank $3.10), Nathan Exelby (Le Juge $2.30) and Nick Quinn (Widgee Turf $1.80) were also on the money.
SATURDAY
GOLD COAST (9 races, start 11.25am), RANDWICK (9 races, 11.40am), FLEMINGTON (9 races, 11.50am), MORPHETTVILLE (8 races, 12.41pm), ASCOT (8 races, 2.25pm).
GOLD COAST
NATHAN EXELBY (Courier Mail). Form: x2111
OUTBACK BARBIE (Race 9, No. 7 — $3.30)
Gets in well enough on the limit for a filly at that time of year, particularly as she has matched strides with some of the best of her age this season. Always races well fresh and she looked super in a recent jumpout getting home over the top of Boomsara. Off the inside, she will enjoy a soft trail and have plenty to offer in the straight.
Value bet: LIFE LESS ORDINARY (Race 8, No. 2 — $10)
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 61022
ACCESSION (Race 3, No. 1 — $2.30)
Talented colt has form around Group 1 winners Castelvecchio and Microphone. Tuned up for this with good trial. Hard to beat.
Value bet: FROM WITHIN (Race 9, No. 3 — $10)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
RANDWICK (KENSINGTON)
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 42822
HEART CONQUERED (Race 2, No. 1 — $2.40)
Resumes over the Kensington 1000m where he set the course record at his last start with his third successive win during an impressive summer campaign. He looked very sharp winning a Canterbury barrier trial over 897m last week. He is also extremely effective on rain-affected going, too. Brilliant young sprinter and gets in well at the weights after 3kg claim.
Value bet: AL MAH HAHA (Race 3, No. 1 — $4)
MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph). Form: 46712
CHARGE (Race 7, No. 5 — $)
He’s got a wide gate but has already won a Group 3 race and contested a high quality Group 1 last start in Melbourne. He’ll look to be on the speed and his class will take him a long way.
Value bet: TURNBERRY (Race 8, No. 6 — $)
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: s8415
KAPAJACK (Race 5, No. 9 — $3.50)
The striking Lonhro son was doing his best work — and under no pressure at all — when fourth only 2-lens from Heart Conquered in what looks to be a deep heat. We only have one fresh run to go on but it was something special. Just need some luck from barrier 1.
Value bet: MINTED (Race 1, No. 7 — $5)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
FLEMINGTON
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 520x6
STEEL PRINCE (Race 7, No. 3 — $1.90)
He’s racing in sensational form and he looks destined for better things.
BEL SONIC (Race 9, No. 5 — $6.50)
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 35101
FIDELIA (Race 3, No. 1 — $2.60)
Showed plenty of ability at both runs back. Drawn well and only needs to get distance to be major player again.
LADY PLUCK (Race 6, No. 4 — $4.60)
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 301x1
SPIRIT OF AQUADA (Race 9, No. 8 — $3.90)
In great form this prep with a win and two seconds. Has a big finish which will be suited down the Flemington straight if he doesn’t get too far back, which is what happened two starts ago.
Value bet: HALVORSEN (Race 6, No. 2 — $5)
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 02321
GRINZINGER STAR (Race 5, No. 1 — )
Terrific galloper from the Danny O’Brien stable who won well at Caulfield two starts ago when topping the highly fancied Mr Quickie and franked that form by winning again at Cailfield last start. In well at the weights after the claim for top apprentice Ethan Brown.
Value bet: PETRELLE (Race 9, No. 14 — $)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 1x721
HAUNTED (Race 3, No. 2 — $2.40)
Promising horse who was impressive beating Dollar For Dollar first-up form a spell.
Looks above average and horse on the ride. Hard to beat from the inside draw with Dwayne Dunn in the saddle.
Value: SEEWHATRSHEBRINGS (Race 6, No. 16 — $81)
