Last week ... Two winners. Ouch! John Davis was the standout performer with his best bet (Kaonic, $3.70) and value bet (She Knows, $4.40) getting the job done. Ray Thomas and Brad Davidson also hit the target, tipping the promising Kaonic. Here’s hoping for better luck this weekend for the team.

TAB Fixed Odds: $4.20
SIMON MOY (Herald Sun). Form: 03437
VEGA MAGIC (Race 7, No. 2)
Was a good thing beaten in The Everest when second behind Redzel. Made easy work of rivals in Memsie before that at Caulfield. Moonee Valley debut but expect him to bounce back here.

Value bet: KING’S BAY (Race 5, No. 8)
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 2x113
VEGA MAGIC (Race 7, No. 2)
Arguably should have won The Everest with a better ride. You can also argue he is the best sprinter in the country. Craig Williams should be positive from barrier three and the gelding can break his rivals if allowed to roll. No excuses.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
Value bet: SIR PLUSH (Randwick, Race 8, No. 13)
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.40
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 284x3
VEGA MAGIC (Race 7, No. 2)
The best sprinter in the country who ran second in The Everest last start when not much went right. Has been a revelation since heading to the Hayes/Hayes/Dabernig stable and should add another Group 1 to the CV.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.30
Value bet: SAVAPINSKI (MV Sat, Race 5, No. 8)
TAB Fixed Odds: $11
MOONEE VALLEY (Saturday)
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 51894

Value bet: SALSAMOR (Race 10, No. 3)
TAB Fixed Odds: $10
DARREN PRENDERGAST (SuperRacing). Form: 15110

TAB Fixed Odds: $7
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 59121
PUMPKIN PIE (Race 2, No. 3)
Has had no luck at her latest two Sydney assignments, including being stopped in her tracks in the Anniversary Highway last time. No doubting her class and sting out of track won’t be a concern.

DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (Courier Mail) Form: 05182
DON’T DOUBT DA WIFE (Race 5, No. 15)
She has a poor win strike rate, but she’s very consistent. Gunned down by a talented type over 1600m last time and reverts back to 1350m. Drawn the inside, she can be ridden a little quieter this time and finish off strongly, as opposed to being the sitting shot. Looks a terrific each-way gamble.
TAB Fixed Odds: $5.50
Value bet: DREAM FINNISH (Race 9, No. 7)
TAB Fixed Odds: $N/A

MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser) Form: 043x5
THIS KID ROCKS (Race 7, No. 1)
He took his game to another level last campaign and is drawn to get a good trip just off the speed. He’s yet to miss a place from four first-up runs and the 3kg claim for Justin Huxtable is significant.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.20
Value bet: SO SKILLED (Race 6, No. 8)
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser) Form: 56713
FLYING CASINO (Race 1, No. 2)
Past two runs have been excellent making good ground behind the in-form The Willybe. Nicely weight with 54.5kg and the small field suits.
