BEAT THE BOOKIE: VALUE BETS
ROSEHILL
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Tipsters’ form: 3x82x
REDZEL
Race 1, No. 2
Tried very hard when a close second to seasoned veteran Floral Insight at Warwick Farm. Redzel is back to racing against his own age, Hugh Bowman stays on, and he the firm track will suit. He is ready to win.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.60
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 34312
ASTERN
Race 4, No. 2
Looks a two-horse race between him and Defcon and the latter has had his prep changed. With respect to this, the $1.75 out there for Astern is probably overs.
TAB Fixed Odds: $1.70
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph). Form: 34312
CATKINS
Race 5, No. 2
What a great mare this is. She’s had 37 starts for 16 wins and 13 placings, including nine victories at the Rosehill track. She has won seven times when resuming and won’t have any trouble disposing of this field.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.10
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 72215
BOLD CIRCLE
Race 9, No. 15
Has been scratched twice because of dud draws over the past month in the city but has been flying in private track work. Gets in on the limit and only needs one to drop out to gain a start. Makes strong appeal.
TAB Fixed Odds: $11

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 06434
ASTERN
Race 4, No. 1
For what it is worth, I have him and Capitalist level pegging this far out from the world’s richest 2YO race. Astern was incredibly impressive on debut winning at Randwick. His trial win the other day at WF was as good as it gets. I can’t possible go against him in this field. You might also want to back to him to win the Golden Slipper because if he wins this, he’ll be a lot shorter.
TAB Fixed Odds: $1.70
DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 31472
PRESS STATEMENT
Race 7, No. 1
Star colt returns after blitzing the field in the Caulfuield Guineas in the spring. Wasn’t pressured in two trials to prepare for return. The Chris Waller-High Bowman combination are lethal when the big races roll around and this bloke will be right among the action.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.50

FLEMINGTON
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun). Tipsters’ form: 11125
PEMBERLEY
Race 4, No: 11
Impressive last start winner who is well above average and should put the score on the board again in a tougher race.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.90
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 31x22
PEMBERLEY
Race 4, No. 11
Courageous effort from horse and jockey to win over 1800m at Flemington last start taking needle eye openings in the straight. Has more upside than his rivals and with lightweight will be hard to hold out.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: 433x5
ALL CERISE
Race 1, No. 1
Aiming for four in a row, won at the track and distance last start and should be able to dictate from the front again.
TAB fixed odds: $3
SIMON MOY (Superracing). Form: 011x2
PEMBERLEY
Race 4, No. 11
Very impressive last start when too strong over 1800m at headquarters. Lightweight and on the rise. Looks well placed.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80

DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 121x7
PILLAR OF CREATION
Race 7 No. 3
Lost it in the stewards’ room last time, but can atone here in similar class race. Stable is going well and he is set to get all the favours off the inside.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.80
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 12126
SHEISWHATSHEIS
Race 4, No. 6
Was scratched recently after having a slight temperature — but back to full health and will be simply too good for these. Will lead them a merry dance upfront and nothing will get close
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.20
BRAD DAVIDSON (Gold Coast Bulletin). Form: 14677
SHEISWHATSHEIS
Race 4, No. 6
She missed a run two weeks back due to a slight temperature but her form before that was outstanding. She has lengths on these class wise and she should shoot straight to the front and prove far too good for her rivals. Quick Ketch also looks hard to beat in race five and he is a beauty because he can win on wet or dry. I’ve rated him $2.50 so the $3.60 on offer appears to be generous.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.20

MORPHETTVILLE
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 12615
CALIANCO
Race 3, No. 1
Talented mare who’s returned to racing in good style with a couple of close-up efforts including last start when she was less than two lengths off extra-smart types Swinging Arms and Dylanson. This is a significant drop in class and her 60kg topweight is offset by 2kg claim for Josh Cartwright.
TAB Fixed Odds: $2.80
