STAR Tasmanian jockey Raquel Clark has escaped being trampled by a horse without serious injury.
Clark was on her way to the start on Sunday at Spreyton when her mount Lingo bucked her off before driving her into the ground by treading on her.
Clark was placed into an induced coma with fears she had suffered serious injury but on Monday afternoon she was given the all clear by surgeons.
Kevin Ring, the general manager of the Tasmanian Jockeys’ Association, said it was pleasing Clark had regained consciousness and hadn’t suffered any fractures.
“She’s got a monstrous headache. She’s sore in the shoulder and the neck area and has facial abrasions,” Ring said.
“An MRI scan this afternoon will reveal the extent of her soft tissue injuries.”
Clark, 23, has only been riding for seven months but has taken Tasmanian racing by storm as she leads the state premiership with 28 winners.
“She’s a very good jockey. She’s different from most apprentices as she’s been riding equestrian horses all of her life,” he said.
