Our experts give you an early shot at finding a winner around the nation in the major races this weekend.

Last week … four winners. All accolades rest with News Racing’s Darren Prendergast after he hit the jackpot with his value bet Bluff ‘N’ Buster ($21) in Sydney. He also enjoyed success with best bet Edison ($3.20). Gun tipster Chris Vernuccio led the charge in Melbourne with the well-supported Defiant Dancer ($2.50) thoroughly dominant down the Flemington straight. The Nooch was joined for the ride by TAB punting guru Nick Quinn and News Racing’s Simon Moy. Herald Sun’s Gilbert Gardiner snapped a run of outs in the best possible way when best bet Lunakorn ($6.50) got the job done. Herald Sun stablemate Glenn McFarlane also found the same runner as his value bet.

The meetings: CAULFIELD (9 races, start 12.45pm), MORPHETTVILLE (9 races, 12.56pm), ROYAL RANDWICK (9 races, 1.05pm), EAGLE FARM (9 races, 1.13pmpm).

CAULFIELD

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (NewsRacing). Form: 27131

THAT GIRL (Race 6, No.14 — $3.20)

Following the Defiant Dancer form. She’s one of a number of horses Phillip Stokes has back to her best form.

Value bet: VIRAL (Race 4, No.1 — $5)

LATEST BETTING: TAB FIXED ODDS

ROYAL RANDWICK

STEPHEN BRASSEL (National Racing Editor). Form: 92356

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 149x27

FROSTY ROCKS (Race 5, No.3 — $3.80)

Resumed with an impressive all-the-way win at Rosehill then he couldn’t get to control the lead at Eagle Farm and had excuses when unplaced. He should be peaking third-up from a spell, looks likely to lead and dominate, and he’s a winner over the Randwick mile.

Value bet: KAAPFEVER (Race 4, No.8 — $8.50)

DARREN PRENDERGAST (NewsRacing). Form: 13x21

ELLSBERG (Race 8, No.14 — $3.10)

Stakes-placed colt was too good for his rivals last start and will be hard to beat again.

Value bet: LILLEMOR (Race 9, No.7 — $7.50)

LATEST BETTING: TAB FIXED ODDS

EAGLE FARM

NATHAN EXELBY (Courier-Mail). Form: 2322x

SHOOTING FOR GOLD (Race 5, No.2 — $1.95)

This is a stop off on the way to a bigger target next month. Highly talented three-year-old who has to give weight to older horses here, but he looks up to it. If anything, this big track should suit him better than Doomben.

Value quinella: Race 4 — 1 Shaquero, 6 Astrologer
