AUSTRALIA’S premier trainer Chris Waller is poised to continue his dominance across two states when he lines up three of the favourites in five quality Group 1s this weekend.

Bulletproof three-year-old Press Statement has a stranglehold on betting in the $1 million Caulfield Guineas (1600m) despite attempting to become only the second winner in 30 years to jump from wider than barrier 13 after the Waller star drew gate 14.

The Sydney maestro also has dual Group I winner Kermadec sitting at the top of markets for the $400,000 Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) despite running into weight-for-age heavyweights Criterion and Fawkner, while back at home Waller’s Vanbrugh is a short favourite for this year’s $500,000 Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

The Caulfield Guineas meeting also features the $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) for the fillies and the $400,000 Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m).

The three-year-old Spring Champion Stakes staying contest headlines an eight-race program which also features the $125,000 Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m) for mares, with Golden Pendant winner Peeping stepping out again.

Caulfield track manager Jason Kerr has the surface rated a Good (3), while the rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit. Weather promises to be unsettled at best with possible thunderstorms and a top of 27C.

Royal Randwick is rated a Good (4), with the track out 6m from the 1600m to the finish post. It is out 3m for the remainder of the circuit. Weather is mostly sunny with a maximum temperature of 25C.
