HOT TIPS: WEEKEND BEST BETS
RANDWICK
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 98800
BULLA BABY
Race 10, No. 10
Is still a maiden after five starts but she is bred to stay — her dam Bulla Borghese won the Victoria Oaks — and is finally getting out to a middle distance here. She comes off a solid effort over 1600m at Gosford last start when she closed late to be just beaten by Mauzel. In a very open race she represents good value.
TAB Fixed Odds: $7.50
NIC ASHMAN (Daily Telegraph). Form: 89501
ROSALEISHA
Race 2, No. 9
I part-own her so must concede I am biased but I do like the way she sets up for this and the $21 looks a good each-way gamble.
TAB Fixed Odds: $21
JOHN DAVIS (Daily Telegraph). Form: 21970
AUVRAY
Race 3, No. 2
Is a former French gelding with proven form lines at today’s trip and beyond. Looks to have been set for this race for some time and Tommy Berry appointment is a shrewd one.
TAB Fixed Odds: $8.50
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 00657
QUEEN OF WANDS
Race 2, No. 8
Won a C2 at Beaumont two starts back then added a Bm67 at the ATC Kembla meeting 11 days later and now into the G3 Carbine Club. She’s a progressive filly and I love the way she attacks the line. She’s had some experience in black-type races, notably that herculean fourth in the Lexus Hybrid on Cup day at Flemington.
TAB Fixed Odds: $12
DARREN PRENDERGAST (Superracing). Form: 23041
VANBRUGH
Race 7, No. 2
Worked home strongly behind Tarzino in the Rosehill Guineas after being checked in the straight. Will be tough to turn the tables on the outstanding Victorian, Vanbrugh’s best is usually reserved for Randwick. Has the added bonus of Hugh Bowman in the saddle, which adds to his each-way appeal.
TAB Fixed Odds: $11
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Superracing). Form: 17548
YANKEE ROSE
Race 6, No. 8
Backed into favouritism after her excellent second in the Golden Slipper, and the money should continue to come for the David Vandyke filly. The fact she ran first-up in the Slipper suggests the Sires and Champagne are the targets and not afterthoughts.
TAB fixed odds: $3.40
SIMON MOY (Superracing). Form: x7138
PERIGNON
Race 5, No. 1
Gate doesn’t help here but on the back of her last-start unlucky third at Rosehill on March 19 should give good sight back against her own age.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 83210
VOLKSTOK ‘N’ BARRELL
Race 9, No. 7
Kiwi galloper returning to Australia after two impressive wins this campaign, loves the 1600 metre distance with three previous wins from four attempts and can feature in the money at big odds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $21

MORNINGTON
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun). Form: 01284
THERMAL CURRENT
Race 8, No. 7
Ran on strongly behind gun sprinter Malaguerra for third at Flemington recently. Last campaign he finished close-up in the Goodwood Stakes behind his former stablemate Flamberge which reads well. $8 looks over the odds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $6
DANNY RUSSELL (Herald Sun) Form: 2x386
MEFNOODA
Race 2, No. 6
Classy Mick Price mare resuming. Rose to Group 3 level at her first campaign.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60
DARYL TIMMS (Herald Sun) Form: 14x15
ANDRIOLI
Race 2, No. 8
Classy filly who showed plenty at her last campaign. Tuned up for this with a good trial at Cranbourne.
TAB Fixed Odds: $4.60

DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 11492
OBERLAND
Race 6, No. 13
Big win in midweek grade then caught off the track and wasn’t a factor next time out. Has always given the impression extra trip will suit and gets that here. Should get the chance to settle off a likely good speed and finish strongly.
TAB Fixed Odds: $15
BEN DORRIES (The Courier-Mail). Form: 14171
COLLATERAL
Race 3, No. 13
First things first — favourite Kaiser Franz is a talented animal but something seems to go wrong for him every start. Plenty of value outside of him, in an open race. Collateral knuckled down really well last start and with even luck, will be in the finish. Looks to be a gelding on the way up, when quite a few of the rest of these are either plodding or on the way down.
TAB Fixed Odds: $17

MORPHETTVILLE\
BEN SCADDEN (The Advertiser). Form: 43653
DROPPED
Race 3, No. 6
Three-year-old taking on older company who hasn’t been far off them recently. Ran a bold race when took off midrace and battled on well to be beaten just over a length last time. Expect him to be prominent for a long way on the Parks circuit at good each-way odds.
TAB Fixed Odds: $3.10
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 66x13
DUCK DYNASTY
Race 6, No. 6
Progressive type who comes off a good Tatura win and appears to be coming in to his own as he gets over ground. Stable in-form and looks a great each-way chance in an open race.
TAB Fixed Odds: $9.50
